Pathway
Start your route to the IRS Enrolled Agent credential.
25 hr 9 min · 3 courses · 0 live classes
Enrolled Agents are federally licensed tax practitioners with unlimited rights to represent taxpayers before the IRS on any tax matter. You earn the credential by passing the three-part Special Enrollment Examination (SEE) and a tax compliance check. You don't need to be a U.S. citizen or live in the United States, which makes it one of the most portable credentials in tax.
This track gets you ready for the first and broadest part of the exam, Part 1: Individuals. Alongside exam preparation, it covers two areas the exam tests and practice depends on: Circular 230, the rules that govern everyone who practises before the IRS, and the residency rules that decide whether someone files Form 1040 or Form 1040-NR.
You study with recorded lessons, reading notes and practice questions, and you work through problem sets in live classes. By the end you should be able to book your Part 1 appointment with a clear study plan, and you'll have the residency and ethics grounding you'll need for Parts 2 and 3.
Tax professionals anywhere in the world aiming for the Enrolled Agent credential, which lets them represent taxpayers before the IRS. U.S. citizenship and residency are not required.
A PTIN is needed to register for the SEE (you can get one during the track). Good command of English for an English-language exam.
